About

The purpose of the Black Women Association is to observe and improve the general welfare of black female students as well as race and gender relations on the campus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Serving as a unit to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment, and when appropriate, recommend to appropriate officials, corrective actions when areas of concern emerge that negatively affect black female students. The Black Women Association will sponsor various forms of educational and social activities for the campus community.  The purpose of this organization is to promote the awareness of the intersectionality of race and gender at the University of North Carolina Wilmington by exploring identity and encouraging self-acceptance. To facilitate an enhancement of the academic success and professional advancement of our members. To cultivate and maintain the development of meaningful relations between educated black women.
